First, different ore sources.
Different raw materials, will directly affect the silicon powder indicators, such as: refractive index, shape, hardness, purity, whiteness and so on.
Second, the particle size distribution is different.
325 mesh superfine ring roller produced and 325 mesh vertical mill produced powder are all 325-mesh products, some with Raymond mill, some with vertical mill; particle size control is D97, and some control is D90; some distribution is more concentrated, and some is more dispersed; some are coarse powder products, and some don’t have coarse particles.
Third, the shape is not the same.
At present, silicon powder on the market can be divided into two kinds: spherical and irregular shape (ball type, square).
Fourth, the heavy metal content and Fe content is not the same.
This is related to mine and production processes. Heavy metals is strictly controlled in environmental aspect which directly related to the level of the product.
Fifth, iron content.
Iron is basically exist in the form of iron oxide in red. So high iron content silicon powder are often lower in whiteness and shows red and yellow phase. The 100-200ppm silicon powder is more on the market while 300ppm is poor in quality. Several manufacturers can control it in 50-80ppm. Therefore, selecting and removal of impurities are very important.
