Talc is a layered silicate mineral, the chemical composition is Mg3 [Si4O10] (OH) 2, usually part of the MgO is replaced by FeO. Its standard Mohs hardness is 1, the density range is 2.5-2.8g/cm3. Most of the appearance is white or light gray, there is a clear sense of greasy. Compared with the calcined dolomite, talc's source is more extensive, more stable composition, higher cost-effective. At the same time, natural talc can further reduce the cost of raw materials, improve the melting quality of molten glass, so as to achieve lower production costs and improve the performance of glass purposes.
Scientists further derive talc instead of calcined dolomite through a large number of experiments as the following:
(1) It is feasible to use natural talc instead of calcined dolomite as the raw material of glass fiber.
(2) Natural talc instead of calcined dolomite will not cause dust flying under high-temperature.
(3) The use of natural talc is conducive to speed up the silicate process with the material, while enhancing the tightness of the glass structure.
(4) Tell from the batch material melting effect, material containing talc is slightly better than calcined dolomite material.
(5) Tell from the process of melting with the material, talc and dolomite containing batch with the material is very similar which is conducive to improving the stability of the conversion process and efficiency of raw materials.
